Intermittent Reinforcement

on the "What Not to Do" for Intermittent Reinforcement - the statement: "Don't keep feeding a machine that only pays out 90% of what you put in." Should that be "10%" ? Thanks!

Hi PrincessPoise, welcome! I think 90% is correct. We put in 100 pennies but only get 90 back, and keep playing as if all is ok and we are going to win big.

If it was only get 10% back then we'd stop a lot sooner seeing easily how much we were losing. When it is 90%, then it is a little harder to tell, but we are still losing in the end. we just keep feeding the machine until nothing left. It takes awhile that way, and we spend a lot of money on drinks and entertainment along the way. In the end, either way, we lose.

Hi Princess Poise. I moved you question over to this board as it is the best fit for the content of your post. I hope to hear more of what brings you here when you post an intro on The Welcome Mat! Welcome.
