I spent all weekend working on my house

My father and uncle and a group of friends helped all weekend on the little cottage I'm refurbishing.    It's getting so close.  The shower was out in, the sheet rock, the old wood floor was patched.   I had to sneak money away from my spouse to do it but I pulled it off.   I'm sitting there now in the house listening to families nearby with the smell of sheet rock and whatever solvent made the shower pan stick together.    It's nice because it's mine, it's not full of trash, it's not full of anger or fear and those are all things I don't need.    I'm lucky and thankful I have a place to go.
It is unwise to seek prominence in a field whose routine chores you do not enjoy.

That's so great! I find working on the house to be a great stress reliever as well. Not only are you accomplishing something, but you're improving your little part of the world - I just love that. I hope this home will be your safe haven.
