Out of the FOG isn't free. It costs almost $2,000 per year to maintain the forum and website. Out of the FOG is supported through a combination of Member Donations, Book Royalties and Amazon Sales Commissions.

Server fees and web hosting costs more than $1,600 each year, and dominate the annual budget. Legal and professional fees cost up to $200 annually. Small additional fees are incurred for web and server maintenance.

Out of the FOG is run by a strictly all volunteer force. Admins and Moderators are never paid, and Out of the FOG does not spend money to raise money.
