Liz sounds like you have worked through a lot.  I must admit your MIL's story is hard to hear, donating a kidney for someone who leaves her, ouch, yep can't help but feel sorry for her.  However that doesn't excuse other behaviours.  Sounds like you have come a long way and are handling things more smoothly now, yay.
