Title: Self-soothing
Post by: Marianne on January 08, 2024, 01:42:40 PM
Hey all,

I'm in a bad situation with my dad. And also having horrid pms. And just had a suspected relapse of lung embolism (it was a fake alarm, but they rushed me to the hospital with high blood values).

My unhealthy self-soothing is calling my dad and begging him to please change together, please make things work together. And eating unhealthy food. Both of these have proven to be unhelpful.

Any ideas for better self-soothing? Things like music or sauna or such. I already called a friend and whined.

Ideas would be great.

i'm sorry this happened to you and i hope this is something you can try next time.

i have a velour/ velvet blanket and i roll myself up in it like i'm a burrito and the wrapping gets me to calm down.  that texture is very soothing to me.  i deal with A LOT of difficult people on the daily and i never deny myself this time to just BE and get myself back in a better place in my own head again.
