For us that need to stretch a buck, Archive.org and OpenLibrary.org are free they have books / audiobooks available. They also have a read aloud option.  Also if you have a local library card you can use Libby (mobile devices) or overdrive (PC) to "checkout" books and audiobooks as well.

Thank you, Starting Healing! Very helpful suggestions and resources. I also have found Hoopla, using my regional library card number, a great place to be able to read books without having to purchase them.

Yes, I use Libby and my library card. One can find out from their local library how to check out ebooks. Some of the ebooks will be compatible with Kindle but all can be read on phone, tablet, or PC with Libby or Overdrive.
