Title: Hi. Daughter with BPD
Post by: Bluelex on May 02, 2021, 02:19:25 PM
My daughter is autistic and has BPD. I have been her support and she has just moved into a supported living with care 24/7 and education. She is doing well but still settling. Tonight she is having a meltdown and wants me to go and get her (which I can't) so is sending me abusive messages (really abusive). I know it's her illness that makes her do this  but it is so hard. I am trying to ignore her as there is little point in doing anything else but then I feel like the worst mum in the world because o know she is hurting.

Welcome and I'm glad you're reaching out for support. Rescuing her will not help her. I've read it's like we go to the dentist or surgery to fix what's broken. Painful but I'm the long run beneficial. A patent may even choose such for their minor children. The child may not understand why it's needed but you're being an amazing mom!! Even though it may not feel that way

There's  a sun forum here for parents of PD that is especially to support you and the toolbox especially the topic of self care.

Warmest welcome and as you settle in I hope you find the community here and supportive in your journey as they have been in mine
