Title: PDBoss emotional manipulation using LO
Post by: BefuddledClarity on June 10, 2021, 04:49:27 PM
Very frustrated at work, that I feel so close to quitting cold turkey without anything lined up, I've only ever quit cold turkey once, but I didn't have high stakes at hand like I do now( I have a little one, paying bills that went up...)

Anyways, been going meeting after meetings with bosses to have them explain what I did wrong on the job(I work at a call center for finance... I'm not on the phone as much as a should be for calls, it's just been really tumultuous in my life lately..).

Anyways, the PDboss has publicly shamed me a couple times in group chat without speaking with me first.

Here's the prior interaction I've had with him:
Overbearing PDBoss is making me uncomfortable and   (https://www.outofthefog.net/forum/index.php?topic=88308.0)

Instead of talking TO ME, he always talks AT me and calls me disrespectful, and that he doesn't get why I seem so "distant" when he's"friends" with the other coworkers and even mentioned how person A is new but is doing better than me and that person B is getting leader position and not me because of my stats. Also, person B is going theough "harder stuff" than me apparently because I "don't talk" about my life.

THEN to top it off, he mentioned "Just think about your son, he needs you. You have to do this job or ...[..]".

What the fuck?

He tried smoothing his criticism with "You do great on the calls! You can talk to customers, but your stats are terrible"

Then he said he felt "disrespected" when I dropped off meeting for my lunch break. Since they're so strict with our breaks and lunchs, I've been trying to adhere to them to the tee, based on secondary boss telling me I need to stay on schedule.

Our schedules are VERY rigid btw, they expect a few seconds for us to notate and take back to back calls.

I just want to quit this nightmare job. The boss above PDboss is no better and completely clueless. Hardly any of the supervisors know the answers and really the coaches are the best and super helpful and great. This particular job has a lot of bad reviews too.

I'm hanging in there. I wasn't so angry until he brought up my son and then kept going on about how someone else supposedly has it harder than me when he doesn't know a damn thing. I also happen to like this person too, good coworker, so no ill will towards them.

This PDBoss keeps excusing his behaviour on "his culture" and "where he's from". Hell, I could pull that card too for my culture, but I don't bring it here to this country, I adhere and respect others, not cross their boundaries just because of "my culture".

Sorry for double post!

I calmed down now. I've been job searching and applying for 10+ jobs yesterday and today.

I also turnt off my work email and work instant messaging app temporarily to get away from the noise from unruly management for a while ... Since today's Friday, I don't have to worry about facing them tomorrow. I'll have a peaceful weekend.

I hope you have a good weekend, BefuddledClarity. I'd want to quit if I were in your position!

Thanks! I'm still working on it ...PDboss has been too much to deal with that I thought of quitting cold turkey. I have a job interview coming up, not in the job field I want to go into though, trying to stay out of customer service, but it's better than being stressed out...

A lot of sales and call center managers are PD. Their lack of empathy makes them perfect for the Job, as they can pressure people and feel little guilt themselves.

I would be very triggered by that work environment. I hope you get a super good offer elsewhere.
