I just started reading "Daughters of Madness: Growing up and Older with a Mentally Ill Mother" by Susan Nathanial. I gets into research on how the brain develops with a disordered primary caregiver (usually the mom) and goes through each stage of development, including adulthood of the child and an ageing parent.
I only just started it, but it's really good so far and I thought I'd share it in case others might find it helpful.
