As of there are not enough PD people, we now have AI acting like PD.

I hate the fake complements and couching that AI does.  I also detest all the AI generated advertising copy with the gaslighting built into the scripts.

As if having intelligent Narcs and Sociopaths among us is not bad enough, they have trained large computer based AI agents to act like them. Scary to think about how much computing power is behind all of it.

I feel triggered by it and backing way away from social media and other places where AI bots and advertising and algorithms are impacting the experience.

Just say no to A-PD

Call Me Cordelia

lol I agree. I got lazy and used Gemini to calculate something for a sewing project and it told me, "That's a home run of a fabric selection!" So later I told it I picked something else I thought was ugly and completely wrong for the project and it was just as complimentary. Something about how unique my project would be. Reminded me of my MIL. ::)

You can actually tune their personality.   I work in tech and science and unlike my uOCPDw I can build and coach Claude to be a non sycophant mode AI.  You can tune the preferences just by telling them.   It is true that they start off as suckups; they don't have to be.  You can expressly tell them to turn that behavior off and to challenge your thinking and assumptions.  I do understand the trigger of the outward behavior being like a PD but unlike a human they actually don't have a personality, just a bunch of vectors trying to always give responses that work.
It is unwise to seek prominence in a field whose routine chores you do not enjoy.

There was a great story on social media about someone uploading audio of fart sound effects to -- ChatGPT? -- and asking it to "critique my music." The result was a festival of ass-kissing and super hilarious.

Sometimes making fun of nuttiness is the best we can do for ourselves.
