My long time girlfriend and mother of my 2 children has just broken up with me again. We were together for about 10 years and have 2 children together, age 4 and 6. She is bi polar and has left and came back to me several times in the last 3 years. I can't help but want to be with her. I want to be in a loving relationship with the mother of my kids who I love. I can't figure out how to just walk away and stay away from her. She is bi polar, has had "psychotic episodes", has severe anxiety and depression. I have been trying to be supportive and things were going well between us but out of nowhere she bocomes cold and distant, tells me she doesn't love me and doesn't want to be with me... I dont know what to do

It sounds like you've come to the right place. Welcome.

Our Toolbox has a lot of good background information. Between that and our topical boards, there is so much to learn and learn from, so that you'll know you aren't alone: read, read, read.

Whatever else you do, you are going to need support from loving friends, so start investing in that FOC right away, and finding the one or two people you most trust to actually talk about all this with: talk, talk, talk.

And when you are ready, if you choose, you can tell parts of your story and ask specific questions on our topical boards, like Chosen Relationships: share, share, share.

You truly aren't alone. And there are many ways through this. None of us will have the answer for you, but we can provide so much strength and knowledge. There is no need to go it alone.

Welcome again to Out of the FOG.

Hey Tim, you sound like you're in a lot of emotional pain, having tried to make a relationship work with your GF and wanting to be there for your young children.  :bighug:

We get it. Many people here have similar stories with a potentially disordered spouse, complicated by having kids together and perhaps still living with the damage caused by a difficult childhood. (Many, but not all, of us had PDs in our family or origin which made us perfect fodder for predators once we start dating)

Right now, you are in the middle of a global health crisis while trying to keep your family together so please go easy on yourself. Please look after your physical health which has a beneficial effect on your mental and emotional well-being. Try and get some support from someone you trust as you need this. Educate yourself as much as you can about personality disorders. Be kind to yourself.

Keep posting and reaching out Tim.
It gets better. It has to.

Hi, your situation sounds similiar to mine, however, i am married to my husband for 6 years now, its been 6 years of turmoil, however, i stick by him and love him and somehow think the situation will get better, he has recently walked out on me, something he hasnt done before, im breaking inside, yet i know its for the best, he physically abused me 4 days ago, yet i feel like hes blaming me for leaving, i really and truly hope you find the strength to either make your relationship work or walk away.  theres nothing more heartbreaking than being in a one sided relationship. xxx
