I.Matter

Hello!

I'm new here and need a space to feel safe.   I've been doing the dance between anger and resentment and then telling myself that I'm ok.   I didn't want to face the fact that I'm not and depressed.  I am the SG in my family  and rotating that with older sibling who was the GC  for some time but now is the SG.  That title for me never left.   The younger sibling has always been the GC and was given things that I never was.   The pain has been unbearable at times and for the life of me no matter what I did, I could never be the GC.    Right now I'm trying to heal but also dealing with other things so I do back and forth between being depressed and listless to somewhat energetic.    I'm glad that I found this forum and will post more later.

Welcome to Out of the FOG. This is a safe space.

Check out our Toolbox: it has so many good resources and will get you oriented. The biggest thing I got from the Toolbox was a realization that we are not alone.

You are not alone. See you on the boards.

Boat Babe

Welcome I.matter (I want to say You.matter !) This forum is such a lovely place to discuss and explore your experience, thoughts and feelings after being raised by disordered, abusive parents. I have learnt so much, often not just what people have said but the way they have said it.

Keep educating yourself about personality disorders but not for too long. Just enough to know and understand your FOO dynamics and to know the red flags. Your main work will be healing your very beautiful and unique self so as to have the best life possible. People do, and so will you.
It gets better. It has to.

Thank you Starboard Song for the welcome.  I feel that this is a safe place.  I've been reading the posts and hope to post my story soon.   I just don't want it to be too long because it could easily be 5-6 pages.   :stars:

Thank you Boat Babe for the welcome.  Hopefully, I won't be here too long but it's nice to see that I'm not the only one with the same issues.  When I listen to others it seems as if their lives are the best but i know just like I hid family dysfunction, they probably are too.   I'm still learning as I go along.   :flat:

You're fine. No need to tell the whole story. Ask questions, give examples, paint vignettes.

It will all get out in time, and you'll make it through.
