Visiting my future self

I attended a virtual workshop early last year that focussed on leadership development, empowerment and visibility for women in my field of work. One of the activities to help clarify our goals was a guided meditation that led to a visit with our future selves. Quite frankly it scared me senseless and made me incredibly sad. This was one of the turning points that made me realise I needed to extract myself from my relationship with stbxpdh and take responsibility for my own future happiness. This experience led me down a path of exploring my personal goals, likes and dislikes, what gives me peace and what takes it away, and what brings me joy.

I am not sure that I got anything out of the workshop that assisted me professionally, but it was incredibly valuable for my personal growth and development and showed me that I was the only one who could make the changes necessary to give future me the life she wants and deserves. I have started two new hobbies that I absolutely love, and am learning to love me.

It's something I would love to do as a ritual every year to 'check in' with myself and I highly recommend it to help with clarity and motivation to make changes.

Boat Babe

This sounds great and I am glad it had such a positive impact on your life.
It gets better. It has to.

Call Me Cordelia

Can you share a source for that reflection?

I have heard of something similar called envisioning your best possible self and describing what that version of you would look and act like. Like what would be different and what would be the same. I am glad you found the meditation helpful.

Poison Ivy

Thank you for sharing about your experience. I think I would benefit from visiting my future self, too.

Sounds like you got a lot out of it.  I have done a few meditations where you visualise your future self.  I have found meditations to be extremely helpful as well.  I'm glad you got so much out of the workshop.

Sorry for delayed response - I took a break from the forums while going through a bit of a tough period.

I have contacted the organisation that ran the training to see if they are willing to share their source and will let you know if they get back to me. There are a few guided future-self meditations available on YouTube but I haven't played them so can't comment on how similar they are to the meditation I did.
