Dreams about LC/NC parents??

I'm NC with overt PDfather and (unintentionally)LC with covert PDmother due to my oldest brother living with her...and both my brother and I are on good terms...otherwise I'd be NC.

Anyways, I notice that every once in a while, my parents would creep up in my dreams and...My mother becomes overt with her PD and my father is more covert---which in real life they're the opposites.

She crept up in my dream today nagging at me and complaining about everything (can't remember what) and I got "saved" by a character from a TV series I'm currently watching and we ditched her.  ;D

My dreams with parents used to be nightmares to where I was trapped and felt like I was suffocating or drowning...But the older I get, I have more control over my dreams and end up "laughing it off" or leaving behind my parents and doing what I want to do while in dreamland.

I just find it weird that they occasionally pop up in my dreams when I hardly ever think about them at all...I try to hide my memories in the deepest recesses in my head and not think about it if I can. Ever once in a while certain things will trigger my memory. Nothing recent has triggered anything particularly bad about my parents though.

Do you still have dreams or even nightmares about your PDparents whom you are LC or NC with?

Boat Babe

Weirdly, not at all. But she does haunt my days !!!
It gets better. It has to.

I'm LC and haven't seen my parents in person since 2019. Even before LC, I've noticed that I often end up expressing a lot of anger at my parents on the rare occasion that I dream about them. I figure it's my subconscious finally letting out some of what I've been bottling up all this time.

Yes, I used to have nightmares about my VLC parents and other VLC FOO mbrs pretty often. Now mostly just dreams. Not good dreams, but no longer nightmares.

I did, yes, but it's been a while. In the dream I told her off very briefly, and in a way that meant my subconscious mind had been chewing on it for a bit and came up with a truth I had not consciously accepted yet. It was a turning point, a bit. I think it's when I really let it all go and accepted NC fully and completely as my normal. Nothing since then.

Lasting happiness is not something we find, but rather something we make for ourselves.

I've been NC 2.5 years, and I find myself dreaming of them less often. I still do, and it usually entails a confrontation where they tell me I'm the crazy one and try again to control me. It's not great, but getting better.

I had  a lot of dreams about my relationship with my parents when I tried LC. I eventually went full NC and it took a couple years of NC for the dreams to stop. I had insights from the dreams so that was welcome. Now that I'm NC 8 years and have fully accepted that this is best for me and my DH, the dreams stopped

I still have nightmares. But I don't wake up screaming anymore. So that's progress.

I would be nice to have a dream that contains my parents that isn't a nightmare. At my current rate of improvement, I'm looking at 2072.  ;D
