Vocalising exercise

I found a good exercise this week.
It's called anger work / truth work, and you vocalise what you'd like to say to your abuser, combined with the action of hitting a pillow with a bat (or something similar). I did it immediately, thinking of my sister who seems to have many NPD traits in her interactions with me, and was saying "you don't think of me as a person, with thoughts or opinions or a future or ambition". It felt very natural and satisfying and I felt lighter afterwards.

It really cleared the tension in my throat that I almost always feel, even after training as a singer I'm often unable to vocalise clearly without tension. I'd dug down emotionally and found it was due to a sense that I didn't have the right to be heard and am afraid I'll say or sing the wrong thing.

I can feel the tension has crept back in now, 3 days later, and I'm eager to do it again. I think I've heard of this type of exercise before but it's only now that I've done the supporting work that it's appealed to me.

I'm experiencing so much change and growth and learning at the moment; it's very exciting as it's like I'm a different person from one month to the next, for the last six months at least. I see things completely differently now and am behaving differently too.

Personally I would be afraid of wiring the physical actions into the same brain pathways as the emotions and memories.

Not that I know this to be a possibity, I am just afraid I might increase my "need" to act out physically and where that could go in the future.

I am glad I was benificial for you.  I have a kick boxing weighted punching bag in my garage that a neighbor left wine they moved.  Hmmm.   Lol

Hi 1foot, I know what you mean. I've been concerned about the same thing in the past, but it wasn't the case when I did this.

I knew when encountered the exercise that it felt right for me and I wanted to try it immediately. Of course, go with your gut.

I loved having a heavy bag to take my aggressions and frustrations out on!  It's been a while since I've used one.  Great exercise, and very cathartic!

When I first started coming Out of the FOG, I first focused on my "voice" in both literal and figurative ways.  One thing I happened upon in my readings was the concept of chakras (stay with me, lol!).  Just as a tool to utilize, to help with focusing concentration.

Chakras are described as having particular colors, and the one that supposedly resides near the throat is a blue color, and is supposed to house the person's voice - the well-being of the voice physically, the skill of the person's communication, the person's own connection to "voicing" their true values.

For a long time, I deliberately wore a pretty blue crystal pendant up high on my neck, close to my throat, and it was a nice reminder to check in with my own voice, and to practice using it skillfully and bravely.  I like to think it worked 😀.

Hi looloo, I love your blue crystal near your throat chakra. I may do that myself.

I love using chakras to understand my body and spirit. Makes perfect sense to me.
