I just wanted to share that I went to my first 12-step meeting tonight. I feel a sense of hope that I didn't know I could access.
It was Out of the FOG that pointed me in the right direction so thank you OOTFers. I appreciate you all.

Starboard Song

Congratulations.

That is awesome Sapling.

This process is a collection of "small" steps. I say "small" because in hindsight, something that we think "oh that was small, it was just one step", it actually shifted things in an important way.

"TreesGrowSlowly" just encouraged "Sapling" to appreciate small steps. That is like a brilliant Haiku.

Haha- I love this haiku! Thank you Starboard Song and TreesGrowSlowly. I appreciate your encouragement.

Boat Babe

Recovery is a wonderful process. I bet you feel relieved right now. You can put that burden down. Sending much love and encouragement.
It gets better. It has to.

Andeza

That's awesome news sapling! So happy for you! I've heard it said that we ought to focus on making a one percent change every day, whatever that looks like in our situation in order to improve and grow. At the end of three months, that little one percent has become quite a big collection.

Lasting happiness is not something we find, but rather something we make for ourselves.

Yes BoatBabe! I feel so relieved! Its like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Thank you for your encouragement.

Andeza, I am only now beginning to realise that its all about "making a one percent change every day," rather than getting overwhelmed with big picture stuff that's out of my control. I look forward to seeing where I'm at after 3 months.

I live near the AT.  Everyone walks the Appalachian trail a step at a time.  Some do it all at once and others do sections.

They all hike their own hike.

Enjoy the journey.
