While I was checking out at a local store, the lady in front of me remarked that she and her DH had been to the long-term care facility to see my (N) mother.  (He's a pastor that my mother likes, so the gesture was lovely. Yes, it's a small town.  LOL.) I thanked her and she left. The cashier, sweetly and gently, inquired if my mother had dementia and I affirmed.  She began talking about how dementia had made her mother mean and before I knew it, I said, "Well, mommy was already mean. Hers turned her nice."  She laughed out loud, as did the lady next in line, who shared that she experienced the same with her mother.  Although I am *definitely* not making light of dementia or my mom's state, I felt a tad bit understood and I let myself accept that.  xoxo

Sometimes affirming the truth sets you free and lightens the day for everyone who hears it.

Bless you, Amadahy!
