This board was mentioned to me as a good place to find support for children of elderly narcissists. Hello!

I'm dealing with my mom whose formerly in-check covert narcissist tendencies have erupted full blown as she goes into physical decline. It's not a great situation as my only other sibling has essentially noped out, and mom really needs assisted living but is broke and refuses to sell her home.  I'm living with her paying rent and it used to be a bearable arrangement until she went off the deep end last year.  (Oh and there's a non-narcissist elderly aunt, her sister, stuck in a bad nursing home, but that's just a fun extra detail...)

And there's no one else in the family but us!

Hi LittleWhiteDove,

I'm sorry you have to be here too. PD parents are so difficult and completely life-consuming. It's sad how elderly people do the "nope - not selling my house" thing. So they get to make it unbearable for their children?? It's just not fair. She could be making life easier for you and her but won't.

Join us over in the Elderly Parents board. Many people who deal with similar things over there.
