I've often thought that I should be more upset than I am (or ever have been) about my uNPD exH leaving me for another woman.  I guess the fact that I was the 3rd wheel to their relationship throughout our nearly 12 year marriage probably prepared me for it.

Reflecting recently on the the whole situation - the before, during and after of it all, I realise that I'm more hurt by the fact that their behaviour caused me to sink to a level of not being able to trust anyone.  No-one.  Not male, female, friends, family, colleagues, people I've known all my life, new people I meet. No-one.

Thankfully I'm now out the other side of that, although I will always remain cautious and somewhat suspicious.

Am I the only one who thinks like this?

Just saw the heading.  It should read "... result of pds".

Long ago, I made a conscious choice to trust people until proven otherwise. I do this out of laziness, being suspicious is so much more work. I have to look for underlying motives, concern myself with contradictions, have to analyze and test. No work at all, if I just believe.
However, the moment I have reason to doubt someone, that's it. All the suspicion work gets done.
This approach allows me to be open and friendly to people, which is my natural behaviour, until I have reason not to.
I can't hate my way into loving myself.
