hello community,
thank you for being here... like many others, I've been reading / skimming forum posts for a while but just haven't been able to bring myself to engage... this intro post is my committment to myself that i need to do this.
a tiny piece of a tiny nutshell - i've gone NC with my father and by extension, brother, aunt, and father's girlfriend. I'm in survival mode on every level - financial, personal, health - everything is dangling at the end of the rope.. which I haven't been able to process...
hoping to open the door to that slowly, by reading and engaging here. i'm encouraged that this space exists - thank you.

Hello to you hibernatingsoul,

I first want to extend a very warm welcome to you here at Out of the FOG.  Im so happy to read you have been lingering here, reading around the forum, and finally decided to dip your "toe in the water".  I have always enjoyed that phrase, as it has such a practical understanding.  :)

You have come to a good place; a friendly place; a place of truth, honesty and empathy.  We are a gathering of souls from around the world that walk along the same trail; a trail of experience with personality disordered people(s) in our lives.

Although im sorry that you have to deal with so many difficult people in your life, im joyed to read that you have the insight and fortitude to protect yourself with the tool of NC with those whom you believe are a detriment to your emotional, financial and physical health.  Im also sorry to read that those areas in your life are depleted, and my thoughts and prayers go out to you for restoration.

On this path we all travel, our members are located at various points along the trail and thankfully we are never alone on our hike.  There are surely other people here with you who are sharing in similar experiences.  I enjoy thinking of the forum boards as campfire stops along the trail. I want to encourage you, now that you have introduced yourself, to pull up a comfortable chair around any of the inviting, understanding and friendly campfires here along the Out of the FOG trail and join in the wonderful conversations with your journeying comrades.

Lastly, I want to point you to the very useful toolbox tab located at the top right area of the page, and dive right in, now that your toe has perceived that the waters are clear and warm.  :)  The toolbox is a great learning place and also a place to gather the instruments you need for your continued journey.  Like all tools, they take steady practice in order for their use, and eventually to become second nature. So, I suggest to not be discouraged, if some tools are difficult to use.  Instead, be encouraged that you have the very useful tools with which to practice, and be assured that with proper understanding and application, you will steadily become a master craftsperson at utilizing these tools specifically to your areas of need.

See you around the board campfires!   :D
