We've neen NC for over 4yrs now, it's been a minute since I've posted, because frankly it has been so liberating not being in the web anymore! I still kick myslef for not doing it sooner... my NBDF calls my college dd after all these years and leaves her a vm.  :stars: How she's been difficult to get ahold of (pretty sure he's had her number), that he's dying, how I hate men and how there's something wrong with me.. wants to leave her and her younger sibling money before it's too late and to call him...  I never fathomed that he would leapfrog me and reach out to the kids.. IDC re- inheritance etc, I'm just floored that he's attempting contact. Of course she wants nothing to do with him and lives thousands of miles away, she's not sure how to handle it and during finals! His own siblings don't speak to him anyone, only send him letters/cards..only person left is brainwashed gf.. sigh. Thanks for lisenting.

I am assuming no amount of inheritance is worth contacting him.   She should definitely finish finals before she even considers what to do regarding calling back.   Leave it entirely up to her on what to do.

Ah, the leap frogging! That's the first time I've heard someone else mention it happening to them.
It's such a dirty trick to go behind your back like that. My dd was approached via Facebook messenger a few years back. From a married-into-the-family relative that she had never met. A sibling of mine was behind it all.

You say that your dd wants nothing to do with him. So there's her answer. Have nothing to do with him.
My dd asked me if I wanted her to acknowledge the Facebook pest with some very sharp responses. I said, "No, tell them nothing, they are being very cheeky."

The tried and tested bait of money has failed with your dd. Good for her.

dadsdump,

No amount of money is worth piece of mind.

A PD parent's ultimate weapon is their will. When all hoovering attempts fail and you're still NC, boom, out comes the inheritance trap. My PD parents played similar games with me.

The red flag is the one I bolded above. Why does your daughter have to call him? If he wants her to have an inheritance he can tell his attorney to add her to his will and it's done. It sounds like your daughter is smart enough to have seen this for what it is. Good for her for putting her studies first!

Your daughter's involvement is completely unnecessary for inheritance. And even jumping through all the hoops put before her guarantees nothing. Sounds like you raised a smart girl!
