Howdy i've got cptsd!!! I can't even imagine what life is like without it since im pretty sure ive had it as long as i can remember. I need help imagining what life is without it. Does anyone know where i can read some recovery testimonials because i just can't wrap my head around whats on the other side of all this misery. Good news is i guess im partially recovered. But whenever i try to imagine me as a healthy person i dont like that person. That person just doesn't seem real to me. That person seems weak and naive. But i know ive got all the cptsd symptoms.i'm just putting aside the fact that i totally believe the cultural situation justifies all the distrust and paranoia. after all i can always go back to being a traumatised person again.

Whats it like to be "well"?...I hate the term "well adjusted". Can some one help me figure out whats on the other side of all this because i have no idea what that looks like.Ill keep reading. Thanks for being here!!!.

Hi. It sounds like your curiosity and self awareness means you're on your way to being "well adjusted". I take this to mean you feel stable and comfortable in yourself, not over worrying about how you act or how others perceive you. I take it to mean you can give and accept love in a non toxic, unconditional way. I take it to mean you can participate in life to the extent you are able, socially with friends and romance, being able to maintain a routine and a home / job consistently. To me it means having peace. Not having no issues, but being confident you can handle them and you will be okay. And you will. I wish you luck and healing on your recovery journey.

Hi Sergio! One way I might address this is to think about what is currently bothering you. Or, to frame it another way, what would you like to have in your life that you don't? Maybe you feel lonely, and you would like to have friends or a romantic partner. Maybe you haven't felt very successful in your work life. Maybe you feel spiritually disconnected. Whatever lack you feel, I might try to visualize what my life would be like if I solved that problem for myself. What would it be like to be comfortable spending time with friends, or having a close intimate relationship? If you achieved your work aspirations, how would your life be different? How would you act, and think, and feel? What might the other people involved say or do? What would be better? What feelings might you have more of, and what ones might you experience less? I would spend a lot of time thinking and maybe even journaling about what that would be like FOR YOU -- because someone else's ideals and goals might have nothing to do with what success, peace, and happiness would be for you.

welcome to the group sergiothemellow,

just a quick programming note about what our focus is here- our boards at Out of the FOG are set up for people to discuss, support and heal from relationships with other people who may have personality disorders.

we also have multiple members who are dealing with PTSD and CPTSD because of those relationships who post at our sister site out of the storm- which primarily focuses on coping with and healing from CPTSD.  some folks even use the same user name as they do here

Out of The Storm

please do check it out.  if you can share more about any relationship with a uPD/ PD person we can also point you to that discussion area here
