What do I say to an attorney? Where do I even start?

I am looking at making an appointment with an attorney to go to court for a court order/civil law to stop harassment.

I am long term harassed by my sister.  It began in the months after an arguement 10 years ago.

It's been mainly messages but I changed my number.  Then it was years of fake accounts. Then it was emails.

All of her communications was crazy. It was crazy making.  There was so much blame for me.  Insults. Demands to answer her. Unwritten threats going by her tone and written words.

Taking what she has sent me, so much of it is coercoin control. That's what I really feel like it is.  She doesn't like me, she doesn't want a relationship with me but she wants to control me and bully me to serve her feelings and ego and she won't let me go and she won't allow me to forget her.

In her campaign against me she raised old arguements going back 10/15/20 years.  It had nothing to do with us falling out.  That was control. She just wanted to hit me with something and more.

Then there was other point making to me.  I haven't responded to her in years.

She is evil. She does things to make sure noone else is going to be happy.

All of it is her own self esteem that is on the ground and she wants to put it into my hands to fix.

I don't know.

There's definitely something going on with her mood and it's on the group B spectrum but I don't know what it is.  I have a medical professional in my circle who has witness the up and down rollercoaster from my sister.   I haven't seen her in years but her focus is still on me. All of it is electronic abuse.  There is a lot of filthy words in or campaign to me and a lot of it is of a sexual nature too and it's sick.   Where she accuses me of loving 'C*(k' and other stuff.

Her communications is on and off.  This year has been the first year in a decade where there seems to be somewhat of a longer gap between communications from her.  Before it used to me every week or every second week or every 3/4 weeks.  There is definitely a longer gap. Average being maybe 4/5 weeks.  There is also less of it.  Before when she started she would maintain contact for weeks.  Now she might only send some messages or emails and she might give up after a week and take a break. Often when she does start these communications it can be a presursor for more revenges and punishments and shaming with her loving my employer as a tactic.

I am just so sick of all of this.

A lot of her communications has a lot of sick and twisted narratives too where she turned things around onto me big time.  I remember experiencing abuse from her thought 2017 with threats about my employed and in 2018 I got so sick of it I found her employer.  She kept this to this day even though that's what she was doing to me.

I have been ignoring her for years now and I am not reacting and I think that's hurting her more.  Even though my intention is not to hurt her. I can't have anything to do with her.

The law on harassment wasn't appropriate in my home country for years.  It's only within the past year that harassment was brought into civil law in my home country.

I do t have any legal knowledge but I don't think old stuff will be taken into consideration? What do you think?

This law came in in 2023 and the last time I replied to my sister was in the spring of 2023 to ask her to leave me alone. Since then there has been no response from me.  She has sent hundreds of emails to me.  Even mail to me.

I want to talk to an attorney and apply to the court.  I can't live like this forever.

I would be able to show that this is something that began in 2015. There is a lot of mental sickness stuff from her referring a lot to things of a sexual nature.  A lot of people might think was there SA or SV to her.  We are the same age and I never did anything to her.  I have other siblings too and we were all close in age and we never did anything to her so I don't know why she's like this.

I will be able to show a lot of abusive emails and communications from her.

The law was brought in, in 2023.

I also know her too. I think she would love the challagne and turn the tables on me.

What on earth do I say to an attorney. Like where do I start?

I feel nobody is really going to be able to understand this.

I rememeber incidents where memenrs of my family and the police nearly interrogated me with - 'what are you doing to her'.

A lot of what I am experiencing is from her own mental health and her own personality.

I can't live like this any more. She's going to drag all of this to our graves and make sure we will feeling her wrath and fury forever more.

In 10 years she hasn't mellowed.  She is still stuck in the same place she was 10 years ago with her narrative that is so wrong.  On all of us.  She's similar with others in the family too.

She just won't leave me alone.

I think that when you speak to the attorney you just lay out the facts, only what you can prove. And while the older voicemails/emails/letters/etc. may not be actionable since they were sent before the law took effect, they still prove an ongoing pattern of behavior/harassment/animosity.

Maybe just start with...My sister has been harassing me for years, and some of her messages contain threats. I have ceased all communication with her, other than asking her to stop on XYZ date in 2023. I would like to know what kind of legal action I can take to stop this harassment once and for all.

Good luck!

RiverPurl i think there are lawyers that deal directly with narcissistic issues in law, i would look into finding one of those if you decide to. also i just want say that i believe you and can feel your stress/anxiety over having to deal with these people since me and most here know it themselves i know that's not much of a a consellation prize but thats all i got for this, but absolutely vent here with anything you need to relieve the stress, we all believe you and can relate for sure.
