Has anyone tried AI such as ChatGTP or Microsoft Copilot to help compose emails and strategize conversions with PDs? I've found it helpful to tell it I'm dealing with a person with low empathy, and use it along with Bill Eddy's BIFF technique to make these communications easier for me.

For some reason I find this hilariously funny, but also intriguing.

Have you been happy so far with what AI has come up with?  Are you able to upload the CDs communications to it and have it respond on your behalf?

I wonder what the PDs would think if they knew!

I have sometimes rehearsed conversations/hypothetical conversations with PD relatives and extended family with AI. It is good for that purpose because you give it specific prompts (e.g. answer in a way that does not invite further questions/be firm but polite etc.) which do not necessarily require nuance. I am not a fervent supporter of AI (it scares me to think how validating it would be if a PD person was using it) but it does come up with good ideas in this case.

ETA: I was not aware of the BIFF technique, thank you for mentioning it!

Associate of Daniel - Yes, I've been able to upload entire email streams, and it can suggest edits for a draft reply, or if I am very busy and frustrated, I can ask it to create a draft. The more context and background information I can provide, the better it's suggestions will be. I still need to put in the work on the response and edit before sending, but it's been a great help.

I have a good therapist, who used to help me draft emails to uNSIL, and I still reach out to her as needed. Copilot and ChatGTP have been great when I have more emails than time to work with her, or need to get a response out right away.

I've also experienced it to be extremely helpful when dealing with a gaslighting situation. I can upload and email stream and provide as much context as possible, and it can share logical well thought out reasoning. It can't replace a good therapist or a trusted friend, but in a pinch it has been a great help in navigating tricky waters.

I am careful not to let people know I am using it. The PDs in my life don't know how much of my emails and interactions with them are influences by my therapist, books, YouTube videos, and AI.
