I went to the gp yesterday to ask about a small ulcer on my tongue that doesn't seem to want to go away.

He said it's a result of "trauma".

I immediately opened my mouth to respond with, "Well I guess I have been dealing with my abusive uNPD exH and his uNPD wife for the last 8 and a half years.  Or really longer,  since I've known them both for over 20 years..."

But I thankfully realised before I said anything, "Oh, THAT kind of trauma."

The ulcer is in a place where it's constantly being rubbed against by the tongue. It will be hard for it to heal.

"Trauma"!

I had to laugh at myself.  Although it is a  sad mindset to have.

I get sores like that. I do believe stress can make them worse/harder to heal.
Also I learned that they are likely a result of a cross reactivity allergic reaction triggered by certain foods. Eliminating certain foods has almost completely gotten rid of them!
And I had a stubborn one and dentist prescribed a rinse that really healed it fast!

I'm sure that is the last thing you expected to hear.  :???:
