Hypochondria or just pity seeking?

As I'm coming Out of the FOG I'm realising that I gave so much head space to worrying about his illnesses.
There would be at least one a week, but there were also a few he claimed to have permanently. I doubted two of them. Not living with him, I never saw medication but when talking about them he would slip up and change his mind/ get confused what medication he was actually taking.
He'd tell me one thing and then say oh no not that one, a different one. He even in one conversation told me he had a serious stomach complaint and then seeing my confusion changed it to a lesser serious one. I think he forgot sometimes it was  me he was talking to.  My work in the medical field affords me at least the knowledge of the difference between onions and leeks. It became a big excuse with him for disappearing for a few days, and of course because illness was mentioned i would have been uncaring had I not been understanding.
It reminded me of a programme I watched in which the con man feigned leukemia, he was so convincing it was hard not to believe but gut instinct would kick in here and there when things were contradicted.

For me, it was also an important realization how much I co-operated with his game of smoke and mirrors.  I was so willing to feel guilty and so prepared to believe his version of a story,  almost as if I had no opinion of my own. You are fortunate that you do not live together and that your bs monitor has sounded an alarm. In the last few years I have worked on my willingness to discount my own voice and the readiness to jump into the problems and life of others. It's a journey.

Probably both.

Narcs are notorious hypochondriacs, because their health is something they cant control directly  and makes them feel vulnerable.  Their body is  something outside of them if you know what i mean , its got free will.   

Also pity seeking is  just "narc supply" , a constant.
