I was introduced to this website by a good friend who thought it might help him so I thought I'd put a welcome post.
Families are pretty tricky at the best of times.
It's been a fair few months since I talked with my mother and sister.
It's not the first time its happened. Before I've probably said things in the heat of the moment but this time I haven't. Before I've tried to smooth things over make it ok. This time I havent the energy.
I've blocked it off best I can. I have my own children to protect and provide for. All my energy goes towards making them happy.
As the days go by its just sad really. I think for the head I need to cut the negativity from my life. If it was a workmate or friend who treated me with the words which were said I wouldn't think twice about cutting them from my life.
Sadly, some people think because they are family they get a free pass to treat you how they want.
The older I get the less energy I have to give to people who don't deserve the little time we all have.
As hard as it might be, just try to be happy, do your best to make others happy and just be kind.
Merry Christmas to all of you.

welcome to the group-

like you said, the holidays can be trying enough with a 'normal' family-  having difficult family members makes it even harder.  it's frustrating esp when no matter what you do it's never, ever enough but strangely freeing when you hit that point where you're seeing everything exactly as it is-

when you're ready to share more about how you got to this point with your mother and sister, we're listening.

Welcome. You are not alone.

I have an undiagnosed BPD/NPD sister. I now define her as my abuser and I am her target of abuse.

You do not have to set yourself on fire in order to help keep someone else warm.

I no longer do "idiot compassion" where I am the idiot.

Keep calm. Stay strong. Keep posting.
