Does anyone else default to something akin to an insecure "child" state when faced with a struggle?    For example, my go to when I go through the general adult normal levels of everyday, say, rejection OR rudeness from someone.....etc.......I immediately go to a state when my first big trauma occurred.   IF the issue is small enough I go there first and have to rally myself into remembering that I'm really 53 and can take care of myself, thank you.    OR, if the issue is BIG enough, I go into dissociation until the threat is passed and then I'm experience all of the emotion all at once....usually culminating in me having a major sob until it's all out.
It could be an issue with my parents and FOO, or flying monkeys, or a bad day at work.

I've heard it referred to as amygdala hijack. The fear from the past trauma is activated. It's very real but displaced in time.

Yes, when facing authority figures I cry. Pretty much every time. I totally revert back to that fearful child, terrified of being "told off".

I also seek permission from anyone and everyone to do anything. Having always been told what to do growing up, I now have no idea how to make a decision and see it through. And if that decision I make is wrong? Then whoa! I'm right back to that terrified child, awaiting my punishment from whoever finds out.

PD parent was bossy/bossed me around

at one of my jobs as an adult, I immediately recognized how my new boss was "bossy"
I liked the job but ended up leaving in less than a month
just couldn't handle being bossed around
be good to yourself
