Hi all,
I am a single mother of a 25 year old son who I believe has anti-social personality disorder. I have come on here for support and to be around other like minded people. I need to do better with boundaries.
This year my son has punched a hole in the wall of my rental property, broken my shower door by slamming it when angry, broken a glass door by slamming it when angry, and given me slight concussion by hitting me in the head.
What goes hand in hand with ASPD is depression, he has persistent depressive disorder, and quite high social anxiety.
He is also my only son and I love him dearly. He has 2 children to 2 different women and things can get stressful very quickly. His kids come to my place on the weekends as he lives in a garage currently. I have space for him with me, but have had to say he cannot stay, which feels dreadful, but it is not safe.
Thanks for having me in here.

Hi there and welcome to Out of the FOG! I am so sorry for the circumstances that bring you here, but thankful you found this supportive community. From the bit you share here, it seems it has been seriously hard going through all of this with your son.

Boundaries... the bedrock of healing and recovery and the only way that I know to begin to reclaim our lives from chaos and turmoil brought by PD loved ones. So wise of you to see that is where you need to start with your son. And yes, it is hard inner and outer work. And we will support you as you do that work and share your questions and experiences.

I want to point you toward a few resources as you settle in. We have a toolbox and Personality Disorder info at the drop down menus above. You will also find a sub community of folks who are also parents dealing with teen or adult children with personality disorders. Here is a link: https://www.outofthefog.net/forum/index.php?board=5.0

Keep reading, sharing, and coming back. There is something powerful as we see patterns, insights, and similarities in our most difficult experiences and learn from each other. I hope you find your time here as helpful as I have.

Again, a warm welcome to you!
The most powerful people are peaceful people.

The truth will set you free if you believe it.

Hi Jenofeve,

Welcome!

You've clearly been dealing with a very difficult situation--I am sorry about what you are going through.

I can't even imagine.

It's so important to find a place to express ourselves.

There is kindness and compassion to be found in this space.

I hope that you will find comfort here, as I have.

Please continue to tell your story.
