I'm not really new to this site.  I was on it for years but then decided to leave, terminated my account, etc.  I felt I had nothing more to contribute and started feeling more than a little bit despairing over how manymanymany PDs keep disrupting and ruining lives, how many people keep coming here for help that so many others have also come here for help...I wondered how useful all of this really is. I got in a negative place where I felt, why bother?  Although I was able to recognize and learn how to deal with the PDs in my life (and for most of them I went NC when possible) it started to seem like an endless supply of narcs and PDs and I wondered if it was just me being hypersensitive or if that really was reality.  So bottom line is...I got a little burned out!

But after awhile I started missing this site.  I feel like there's a real community going on here, and I missed that.  When I would encounter someone with a possible PD or narcissism, I would reflexively think back to what I learned on this site.  It was valuable information, and I needed to stop thinking of myself just in the context of my relationship with this site and more in the context of what value it had.  In other words, it wasn't all about me.  So that's why I came back  :)

Catothecat,

Welcome back!  Sorry that you experienced burnout, but yes a very wonderful worldwide community here of people who understand, empathize, sympathize and band together for strength, support and/or simply to listen.  Now that you're back on the Out of the FOG trail again, pull up a comfy chair around the campfire of topic boards.  I look forward to future conversations.

All the best!
