I honestly don't know what this is, or if it is at all PD related or just a quirk
But - it could fall into a narcissistic trait of self-importance - 'my stuff is more important' - it definitely has something to do with uPDh's 'laziness'/impatience/needing everything to be easy for him etc
He will complain about other stuff/other people being messy, not neat, etc yet he has to have all of  his 'daily stuff' right out in the open (not in a closet, not in a cabinet, just THERE where he can SEE it and grab it easily)
He has a spot on the kitchen cabinet for his cigarettes, lighter, tissues, etc.
Then he has coats/hats/gloves/socks (depending on season) on THREE different chairs in the dining room
Then, after he had his heart attack it was that he needed all of his 'healthy' snack items, medical items (pills, blood pressure cuff etc) ON the dining room table - also there is his wallet, keys, cough drops (and used wrappers), notebooks, glasses, inhaler. I hated it from day one but tried to be accommodating (like many things it was presented as 'for now' / temporary but that was 2.5 years ago! But in the beginning I kept it to one half of the table, then it spread to about 2/3 of the table, now it is ALMOST the ENTIRE table.  It is messy, if we have company we have to clean the whole thing off and stow the stuff somewhere, AND I cannot sit at my own dining room table any more. He's taken over the entire room.
We are talking about downsizing/moving to a condo. I don't know how. He has an office to himself, full of stuff, he has taken over the dining room, he has a corner of the kitchen counter, he pretty much takes over the screened porch.
It's like clutter/messy....but he claims to be 'OCD' (I do not believe he is OCD, I do believe he has OCPD though, but with some BPD and some narc traits)

Remember that Brady Bunch episode where they used tape to separate two halves of the boys' room?

Time to get the tape out.

I personally am not as neat as my wife, and I have my little piles. But they are small, defined, and out of the way. It isn't asking too much for his to be the same.
