Mother didn't call me

As you know she's in the NH.  My stepfather died last night. He was at the same nursing home. Guess who she called. My new sister in law who took over power of attorney. I had no call.  How typical of my mother.

Lilyloo - I am sorry to hear of your stepfather's passing.  I think your mother didn't call you because this is her way of punishing you for setting boundaries.  You dared to start asserting yourself and you no longer ask "how high" every time your mother says "jump."  So now she has what she considers to be valuable information, and she purposely doesn't call you, but rather she let's you hear the news second-hand.  She is doing this to teach you a lesson, or so she thinks.  My mom would do the same thing.  It's all about who knows what and when they know it, and if my mom is mad, she will withhold information as a way of showing who is in her good graces and who is on the outs.  It's childish, I know, but that's how they are.

 Thanks Sunny!   She's formed an attachment now to brothers new wife.  If the rest of us call her she says she can't hear us talking but has no trouble hearing the daughter in law.  Oh Sunny, just more craziness!!  Lol.

:Sneezy, you are soo right!  Also you are right that I don't say "how high"  She tells the DIL everything and yes I hear it second-hand.  DIL jumped at being POA.  I didn't want it. She is very pushy and bossy. Mother likes that!  Thank you Sneezy!  Spot on!
