Hello,

This is my first post here. I'm the daughter of a full-blown NPD mother -- luckily she lives far away. A few months ago, I decided to set some boundaries and go low contact. That did not work. She completely ignored the boundaries that I'd set and kept on with the emotional abuse and the constant messaging/calling to complain about her "many" problems. However, I'd had enough and exactly one month ago I told her that since she refused to accept the boundaries I had set, it was time to call it quits. I said I would no longer be taking her calls, answering her messages, or engaging in any form of contact. She has gone the typical route of trying to turn people against me, making herself out as the victim. However, our family is small and the distance really helps.

She's 78 years old, and I know I will never see her again. I'm now processing the loss and the inevitable mourning, and I'm happy to be able to share and hear from other on this forum.

Thanks for reading.

Welcome to Out of the FOG. I am so sorry it went that way for you.

It sounds like you know this: the loss was probably long ago. This was only a sort of consummation of that loss. I commend to you the books in the top line of my signature. They are the ones that most helped my wife and I heal in our own ways after our crisis that left us NC with my in-laws 7 years ago.

You are not alone.
