Different realities

I recently saw uNPDxw in a school gathering, I had convinced myself she wasn't going so the chock to the system when I saw her. I had been very anxious to go with the risk of seeing her, but as I wrote I didn't think she would be there. It was like looking at a ghost, I had to walk past her to get a seat but I don't think she saw me(she was busy typing on her phone smirking). I sat in the very back and tried to sit so I couldn't see her but when people moved around I accidentally saw her now and then. I felt sick in my stomach and I almost threw up, I am not joking.

The interesting bit of all this is how I felt towards the end whilst I actually observed her for a short while. It was like it was 2 realities in the room, hers and then the rest of us. I remember I always felt like this whilst with her and that I was in a separate reality watching the world go by outside and being in another reality with her. This time I was in the real reality and she was on her own in her fantasy world. She was on her own, left immediately when the gathering was done whilst I stayed for a while chatting to some of the other parents.

It is just so wonderful to take part in life and not just watch it from the side lines pretending the fantasy is real.

Good for you for:

- going (yes, I understand you thought she wouldn't be there, but you going still deserves kudos)

- staying after you saw her

- avoiding her effectively

- functioning through the event

- staying after to mingle and chat!!!!

We have different experiences but I know what you are saying about the different realities.

It feels like there is an event horizon surrounding a black hole. If you cross it, you get sucked in by its powerful forces. If you are just near it, you can feel its pull and risk being pulled in. You can stretch and break apart ("spaghettification") if you get too close.

Fortunately, PD reality is slightly weaker than an actual black hole. It's difficult, but it's possible to escape.

Realised I posten in the wrong sub forum, but I guess we are the same reading them all.

Thanks Square, I got real panic when I saw her but even though I was completely frazzled afterwards it felt good to talk to a few parents. Ironically one of them was the mother of DD2's best friend and was shunned by uNPDxw years ago (she had a too good job).
