Poison Ivy

My divorce was finalized 8 years ago today. My life isn't wonderful, but most of the things that make it not wonderful either (1) would have happened anyway (regardless of my marital status), or (2) were caused or contributed to by my ex while we were married and I can deal with them faster and usually easier as a single person.

Ex and I get along okay. He hasn't changed much in terms of avoidance of problems and communication and lifelong mental health issues. I'm nicer in general now that I'm not having to communicate with him and make decisions jointly; those caused so much stress and left me little space to breathe and think.

Congratulations.

It's surprising how much stress can quietly wriggle its way through seemingly unrelated parts of our lives, and surprising how strong of an effect it can have.

It's so difficult to be bound to dead weight, where joint decisions cannot be made or can only be made by you hoisting that dead weight yourself.

Good work on making the hard decisions and staying balanced.

Thank you, Square. I know you understand.

I can't hate my way into loving myself.

Congrats Poison Ivy!

Peace and quiet makes such a big difference in our life!

I may be the black sheep of the family, but some of the white sheep are not as white as they try to appear.

Congratulations

I found reading posts of people that have done the work and were able to separate helped me tremendously.

I'll be 2 years out this August

Thanks for sharing this. I'm one year out and mostly happy, but struggling this morning with a minor setback that's still bringing me down. Your post helps put things into much-needed perspective!
