HadesAurora

Hello,

My therapist is pushing me to join an online group and I trust her judgement even though I find this very uncomfortable. I have been diagnosed recently with CPTSD though I have spent over a decade looking for answers on how to navigate my world. My parents both have PD issues that were only exacerbated by their divorce when I was a young child. The results are that I mentally struggle to do more than survive most days. I am grateful for my therapist who is helping me heal, and she thinks this is a safe way for me to work on my isolation issues. So, here I am.

I am hoping future posts will be more about me and less about my therapist, and, lets face it, I wouldn't be making the leap at all if she wasn't pushing me. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day. I am going to go lurk now.

Welcome! It's scary but it gets easier with time. We are here to listen when you are ready to share.
I can't hate my way into loving myself.

HadesAurora - welcome to Out of the FOG. You did the hard part... your intro post!

When I first arrived here it took me some time to begin to believe I belonged and that the abuse and dysfunction of my FOO and in law family were 'bad enough' to meet some imaginary threshold that would legitimize my participation.

I didn't even know that gaslighting and gaslighting oneself was thing, but I was doing it and experiencing it.

The good news is that your therapist has encouraged you and sees the need for a wider range of support as you heal and grow through the difficulties you have faced. And you have shown the courage to join.

Keep coming back and reading, absorbing, and when you are ready...join the conversations! See what peer support and insights from fellow travelers will bring to your life!
The most powerful people are peaceful people.

The truth will set you free if you believe it.
