I kind of went No Contact

After a day or two of arriving in the new country, my parents hounded me on the phone with stressful information and questions about everything: why aren't you working yet, why haven't you found a place to live yet, what's so hard about it or you should have done x and y, you wouldn't have been in this situation now. Etc. I was almost falling apart from their mental torture and decided that enough is enough and blocked them.

Today is the 3rd day of no contact and now I feel we will be in no contact for good. The peace I feel is unbelievable. I stay at a temporary apartment now and there's no one here. I go to bed in peace and wake up in peace (used to wake up with them yelling at each other in the kitchen or doing drama so I could wake up).

I eat what I want (PD parents would purposely tell me what to eat and even prepared foods for me that I didn't like or agreed with) and do what I want. Now, my brother noticed I pulled away and sent me a text.

I told him a lie, why I couldn't be reached by our parents and he believed it. I plan on blocking him, too because he's the golden child and caretaker of the parents. He would never agree with me going NC.

What helped a lot is reading stories of people who went NC and didn't know how to cope with it-but eventually made it out. One person said to ditch the idea that your parents are that source of support you have if all things go to hell. If everything turns to pieces and you lose everything, a normal person would think of their loving mother to turn to and ask help from. But we can't think like that. If I go back to them they'll use my pain to boost their fragile egos and hurt me even more. There are other support systems in the world other than them.

Well done! Such a smart move to protect yourself and your sanity. I can imagine how good the silence feels. Things will slowly start falling into place, now that the malicious interference has been removed.

Wow! This is an awesome update!  Honestly, I'm in awe of your bravery!  My guess is you will feel stronger and more capable with every day that passes that you do not have contact with your FOO.

Yes. It truly feels like I have escaped torture.  :stars:

I already feels 10X stronger. It is stressful enough to move out and start a new life, but them stressing me with their obsessive need to control and mental problems is just too much. I only have one life.

Wow, Mary Poppins, this is great! And if at some point doubt or fear creeps in, just know that many of us who've gone NC have experienced that, too, and come out the other side. Congratulations. Please enjoy your very well-deserved peace.
