Just watched the 2 part documentary Phoenix Rising, featuring actress Evan Rachel Wood and recounting her abusive relationship with rockstar Marilyn Manson. Warning that there are some triggering accounts of the abuse Wood describes, particularly in part 2.

I'm sure some viewers are looking for celebrity gossip and lurid sensationalism, but I think it offers  an informative look at how one gets lured into abusive relationships, why victims don't report, and why it's hard to leave. While speculation is open as to whether MM is PD, hopefully viewers come away understanding PD better in general be it a shocking rockstar or the seemingly normal person next door.

I personally believe the allegations from Wood and other victims of MM, and admire their courage in coming forward, particularly given the very public flying monkeys and smear campaigns they've faced as a result. To me, based on my own experiences with PD abuse, the flying monkeys and smear campaigns (along with MM making himself out to be the victim)  just further supports Wood and the other victims' allegations.

*ETA changed language to sound less accusatory and more speculative, just to be safe in discussing a public figure! Other viewers can form their own opinion. I suspect OOTFers will relate to this documentary.
