Relieved

Hello. My user name says it all. I have recently exited a 37 relationship with a sociopathic wife. It is like being able to breathe again. It is only a few days ago that it became absolutely clear to me where I have been. I am still in a state of shock, but 'good' shock if there is such a thing. So hello and I'll probably be unloading later, when I'm able to articulate properly, right now I am, well, a little dizzy.

welcome to the group @Relieved-

i'm coming up to my 18th anniversary of being PD free from my ex who used alcohol and other substances to mask/self medicate his disordered behaviors.  the group here helped me through the aftermath of me learning to say NO and to look for red flags as well as how out unlearn some of the codependent behaviors I used as coping mechanisms from being raised in a home with an uPD parents.  I've also survived 3 workplaces with bosses who were difficult people at best bc of the strategies i've learned here.  it's a great group and i truly feel my participation here has been LIFE CHANGING.  I hope you can get as much out of the group as I have as you recover.

I want to add my welcome. I left my home 7 years ago after 32 years of marriage to a NPDh and I remember the relief too. Sadly he has now come back into my life as we are in the process of divorcing. Needless to say, he wants to ruin me financially and as much as I want to forget all about him, I have to sit down regularly with my lawyer and reply to letters from his lawyer.

Looking forward to your stories of healing.
I can't hate my way into loving myself.

Thank you for your welcomes, they are appreciated. I am starting to work through things by writing, it's helping and I'll post some of it in Chosen Relationships, they'll be no names, no pack drill.

Relieved - adding another warm welcome to the community. There is a space, I have found, in which we disengage from years of difficulty, uncertainty, and a unhealthy relationship(s), that is both grief and relief.

Like so many others, I have found this community to be like nothing else in my own recovering and rebuilding journey. My hope is you find the support and resources here to be of great help.

The truth will set you free if you believe it.

You've done so well surviving that and getting to the point where you can name it.
You will rebuild. You've got this.
