Hi,

I have found great solace and solidarity in this forum over a number of year, resonating with so many other posters experiences. But now feel like speaking frankly about CPTSD and its effects on me and others.  I'm in somatic therapy and it's helping me stay in my body instead of checking out or overriding what I feel. I've got complex PTSD, and I'm not doubting it anymore. I've spent years surviving, coping, hiding in plain sight. Now I'm trying to unlearn that, bit by bit.

For most of my life, I stayed quiet. I didn't tell the truth about what happened or how it shaped me. Writing helps me now. It's how I witness myself, after years of silence. It makes things real. Sometimes it's the only way I know how to stay connected to myself.

I joined this forum because I don't want to do this work in total isolation anymore. It's a weird kind of grief and relief to finally name things and I guess I'm just looking for others who get it.

Thanks for reading.

Hi lyssie, there definitely are people here who get it! You might also like https://www.outofthestorm.website/ which is more specifically focused on healing.

Looking forward to seeing you around the forums.
