Hi all,

It is my dd birthday, early forties. Her milestones were during covid so we never met for cake or afterwards, I was never invited. She always has cake with her family, partner and two boys. More often than none she celebrates a second big time with her friends.

My question is who invites who? We live close to each other. I've been wandering for a long time now and respected that I wasn't invited but always brought her a gift at a later date. I  wish her happy birthday of course. I have a lc  relationship with her but would not refuse her invites. She ivites us for her boys bds.
I may be the black sheep of the family, but some of the white sheep are not as white as they try to appear.

blacksheep7 - I hope I am understanding your question...I am thinking that whoever is planning either celebration would be the one inviting.

In my own case, with an adult daughter that I want to celebrate with, I invite her for something simple - like brunch or out for coffee and bring her a gift.

She also celebrates with friends and her husband and children and that is separate from me.
