Where is "He" in all of this?

Do you ever wonder where God is in all of this?

Why doesn't He just set things right? He is able to at any point, isn't He?

If there is some karmic purpose or soul contract to fulfill that explains why we have had to endure the dynamics of being on the receiving end of disordered individuals, it seems like we would eventually get to a point in our life and level of awareness that the objective has certainly been met by now.

I suppose we just live each day accepting what is with clarity and keep pushing toward the things that lift us up.

Sometimes I think maybe none of these dynamics are even about me specifically but are what the others around me have to live. It is their story, what they created, their karma.

Then I wonder, what about me? Why did I have to experience an of this and what benefit - if any - has this been to me?

It could not have been to punish me because I never did anything wrong.

Has anyone thought similar?

Hi Blueberry Pancakes.

I've really wondered about similar things you speak of in your post.  For me I like to think that the "why", and there may be many "whys" will be made clear to me in a fashion that I'm ok with the "why".

Until then, we keep on keepin on as we do the things that lift us up.

Call Me Cordelia

He's there. As bad as things are and have been... He permits it. And He did not spare His only Son but went and faced the evil head on. Killing God is as bad as it gets. And even that turned out for good. So I have to believe that however He will do it, that when we do spiritually unite our sufferings with His suffering, He will redeem ours just like He resurrected His.

I have experienced this in big and small ways in my own life. I think it's pretty common for survivors to experience a feeling of gratitude for the "last straw" event that made the FOG lift, for example. I also believe that this world is so interconnected that we can't begin to imagine the consequences of everything that happens.

The "problem of evil" is a huge topic and many books have been written on it. But if God is sovereign, and God is good, He does have this in hand and nothing is wasted. It doesn't bypass the experience of suffering or make it less real, just that there is good that is even more.

Thank you, Seeking and cordelia.

I did get to the point in life where at least I stopped an internal thought loop that when bad things happened it was His way of punishing me because I was innately a bad person and it was my only fate. Getting past THAT was a huge hurdle. Those were the early days of fog lifting.

Thanks.

Blueberry Pancakes,

I just saw a sermon on this exact thing today.  The minister said that when God loves us, He pulls us away from people, places, houses, cities, etc., to purify us.  He draws us closer to Him, by cutting out people and places that will not benefit us, and prunes branches out of our life so that we may bear more fruit, so that God can use us to help and encourage other people.

And, through all the suffering, isolation, loss, etc., we grow spiritually as well as learn to lean on God. The minister also said, that one day, we will look back on all the trials and tribulations and understand why, and how it did bring us closer to God and grow our faith in Him.  And, that after we are purified, that is when God can really use us in this world.

It was a very interesting sermon. When dh and I finished watching it, I said to dh, "Wow, that kind of makes everything we've gone through okay."  It's not that we are being punished, it's that we are being cleansed and purified.

The YouTube video is : "Pastor Loran Livingston - France Is Burning and It's A Warning".

The title has nothing to do with what he is talking about, so must be titled wrong.
