I'm soaking this all in and will try to put it in my own words. I hear you  all saying it is not loving to impose yourself to "save the day." On the flip side, I find myself wanting my close friends to "save the day" for me. This places undue burden and stress on the relationship, and is not what I need from those relationships. Instead I need fellowship and fun from likeminded adults. And I suppose fellowship, on some different level, is what the PDs in my life may need from me--as opposed to fixing their issues and addressing their "pain".
For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. (Isaiah 54:5)
