Part of the security upgrade to https means that avatars using an external insecure url need to be redone. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello Admins.  Thanks for the work you pour into this site and community.  I have a bit of an ocd side to me and i cannot determine what is causing the avatar to look truncated and blurry.  If you will please suggest (post)  an ideal size and format (jpeg, png, other) for the avatar image.   Thanks.

The avatars are sized smaller as part of the forum software  to allow for faster page load times. You can experiment with different avatars and see what you can live with.
The dimensions are 65 px x 65 px (pixels) so itís pretty small and a square image will help.
On a good monitor it will look a little soft likely no matter what you do.

Depending on your device you should see something at the top that says forum profile and there are some things you can change and customize in there once you have enough posts.
