Heard this one many times when other people have depression or anxiety.

Well, yes, mental illness is in one's head. :rofl:

Of course the meaning is that the suffering isn't real. Only the PD's experiences matter. But the statement taken at face value is pretty ironic. May be useful next time we encounter this in the wild. It would be interesting to see if they would follow through and actually say what they mean...  :blink:

Yep Dad says that. Or people need to "pull themselves together".

He also says about my teen with Aspergers - "never had it in my day, all they need is a slap around the head to behave".

Hmmmmm.
