Oh yes.  The whole wishing I could have recorded our conversations thing.  All throughout our nearly 13 years together.

But I know now that even if I had recorded them and then played them back to my uNPD exH, he would have continued to twist my (and his own) words and deny having said xyz.

Ironically, all of our communication is now done by email - and he STILL does it.

Someone once wrote on these boards a great response to such situations.  It went along the lines of, "I know that's what you heard but it's not what I said."

I haven't used that one yet, although I've been sorely tempted at times.

I feel like there's no point, even, to conversing with them a lot of the time. They're either waiting to pounce on some tiny thing you say, so they can whip it back at you in some derogatory manner, or they're going to grab and twist your words, again to make some ill out of it, or even store it up to trot out later "well 200 years ago on this date YOU SAID...." and you'll be left going ".....what???...."
