Mary

How gentle God's commands!
Author: Philip Doddridge (1755)

How gentle God's commands!
How kind his precepts are!
Come, cast your burdens on the Lord
And trust his constant care.

2. Beneath his watchful eye,
His Saints securely dwell;
That hand which bears all nature up
Shall guard his children well.

3. Why should this anxious load
Press down your weary mind?
Haste to your Heav'nly Father's throne
And sweet refreshment find.

4. His goodness stands approved,
Unchanged from day to day;
I'll drop my burden at his feet
And bear a song away.
For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. (Isaiah 54:5)

That's lovely, Mary. Thank-you.

Do you know the name of the melody (different from the name of the hymn)?

I'd like to look it up in my various hymn books.

This is one of my favorites, the melody is beautiful as well....

All for Jesus
Mary D. James, 1871

1 All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
All my being's ransomed pow'rs,
all my thoughts and words and doings,
all my days and all my hours.

2 Let my hands perform his bidding,
let my feet run in his ways;
let my eyes see Jesus only,
let my lips speak forth his praise.

3 Worldlings prize their gems of beauty,
cling to gilded toys of dust,
boast of wealth and fame and pleasure;
only Jesus will I trust.

4 Since my eyes were fixed on Jesus,
I've lost sight of all beside;
so enchained my spirit's vision,
looking at the Crucified.

5 O what wonder! How amazing!
Jesus, glorious King of kings,
deigns to call me his beloved,
lets me rest beneath his wings.

Love that Free2Bme. It is so amazing that One so high would call me beloved. I so look forward to being with Him forever.

Thank you Mary. How lovely. Good to be reminded. So glad you shared this.

ALSO a good place for traditional hymns with piano only is https://www.hymnal.net/en/home

you can look up your favorite hymns with the lyrics and also control the tempo. Nice site.

For now I am focused on:

TAKE MY LIFE AND LET IT BE

Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
2
Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
3
Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.
4
Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose,
Every power as Thou shalt choose.
5
Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart; it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.
6
Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee.

Thanks T/H  :) , that one is a personal favorite.

I used to use the site you referenced when my kids were taking piano, kinda forgot about it.

This one is encouraging to me:

...of course it is better appreciated with the acoustics of a church/choir .

BTW I don't read music but I got a Davidic harp to learn some simple songs. It is one of the small ones with just 10 strings that sits on your lap. Just the sound of it, is very soothing, even plunking on simple notes to Jesus lovesme. i highly recommend the sweetness of a soft instrument for healing and serenity.

Ukuleles are also nice for worship music.  There is a type of tabs/music for th called chord melody music where the song can be heard withoht you having to sing but just enough chords to fill it in to sound lime acompaniment.

Call Me Cordelia

Ooo I just bought a ukulele for my daughter! She wanted a guitar but she's too small to hold one lol. I'm excited to be able to have some accompaniment to singing our hymns for school.

One of my favorites that I come back to over and over is Be Thou My Vision.

How funny CMC  :) I bought a ukulele for my daughter recently also.  She's not interested, too many years of piano practice burned her out I think.  Thankfully I didn't pay a lot for it, maybe it's provenience and I should learn to play.

Yes, I love "Be Thou My Vision" !

Am I allowed to add a newer song that feels old?

Is He Worthy by Andrew Peterson
Do you feel the world is broken?
(We do)
Do you feel the shadows deepen?
(We do)
But do you know that all the dark won't
stop the light from getting through?
(We do)
Do you wish that you could see it all made new?
We do)

Is all creation groaning?
(It is)
Is a new creation coming?
(It is)
Is the glory of the Lord to be the light within our midst?
(It is)
Is it good that we remind ourselves of this?
(It is)

Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave
He was David's root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave

Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory
Is He worthy of this?
He is

Does the Father truly love us?
(He does)
Does the Spirit move among us?
(He does)
And does Jesus, our Messiah hold forever those He loves?
(He does)
Does our God intend to dwell again with us?
(He does)

Is anyone worthy?
Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave
He is David's root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
From every people and tribe
Every nation and tongue
He has made us a kingdom and priests to God
To reign with the Son

Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory
Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Is He worthy of this?
He is!
Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
He is!
He is!
