Starshine, I want to congratulate you on this important life milestone  :phoot: :yourock:! It is never easy to earn a degree, and I am particularly in awe of people who have wrapped up advanced degrees during this pandemic year and all of its disruptions. I hope you have found/will find a way or several ways to enjoy celebrating your accomplishment.

I also want to offer my empathy. I too had a graduation ceremony that was marred by parental response. My father complained endlessly throughout the day about the ceremony, the food, and others in attendance. He and my mother's husband spent my post-ceremony celebratory meal picking on each other. As we often remark on posts around this forum, those with PD find a way to ruin special occasions or make it about them. That said, we can mark special occasions any way we want.  We don't need to celebrate in just one way or on just one day. Nor do we need to include family to celebrate ourselves. I hope you find many ways to find joy and celebrate the wonderful things that you do.
