Quote hit home

I have been listening to the audiobook about addiction entitled The Biology of Desire by Marc Lewis, neuroscientist and ex-addict.  I may not have the quote exactly right, but when speaking of recovery he said, "you cannot have self control until you have a sense of self."  It really hit me and helped clarify the interplay between PDs and addiction.  I know his views are controversial, but they make sense to me. 
I think that the quote describes a lot of PD selfish behavior.

I think that is a fantastic quote .....for us all.

We all need self awareness....I need it so I don't make this mistake again.  I am looking forward to the divorce and learning about myself.

My husband has little.....certainly not sustainable, self awareness. It's so frustrating
