I want to start gigging singing and playing piano

I just need to ask my voice coach how to get this off the ground. How many songs I need, how to put a good list together, how to get really low-key gigs to get myself started, licenses, equipment, etc.

I don't mind if it makes only a little money on the side. Or if it takes me a long time to feel confident enough to do it.

I'd just like to go around to local places singing at the piano.

That's a goal I have.

Proverbs 17:1
A meal of bread and water in peace is better than a banquet spiced with quarrels.

2 Timothy 1:7
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Proverbs 29:11
A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.

Starboard Song

If you do it, I'll do it.

I play and sing all the time, but never for an audience. I've been asked by friends to do an acoustic set as a trio in a few weeks. It horrifies me, but is also exciting.

Don't let yourself kill the plan: just a dozen songs can fill an hour set, with noodling between songs. With about 50 songs you can rotate around and be the Saturday morning regular at a coffee shop. You do that 5 times and you'll have the confidence of gods, ready to keep moving forward.

Good luck!

During cocvid lockdowns, I explored a couple of friendships apps.

There were all manner of interactions going on.  The app had AI that did not allow nudity or pornagraphic images so it was not one of those types of experiences.

In some of the "rooms" people would be on screen playing keyboards and singing as performers, some took requests, some played original tunes or their take on a familiar one.

I also found a group that had open mic nights.  This group was so incredibly diverse in age, race, region or nation or origin.   Many of the members participated in trivia or other events other nights and "knew" each other.  After each person sang or read poetry, everyone would chime in with affirmations or comments.  Some singers were horrible musically to be honest but they got the same level of positivity as we did listening to others respond.  People would say why that song touched then or comment on the purity of emotion behind the singing or relate an experience that related to the songs lyrics.

It was so nice to interact in a genuine way with real caring and thoughtful people those evenings.

Perhaps am online outlet of some kind would let you build confidence while you wait for IRL opportunities.
